Hello, my name is Anna Ryslinge and welcome to Dark Bay Photography!
I am one of those girls who fell in love with horses at a very young age - with pony wallpaper adorning my walls and horse dolls all over my bed; but I didn't begin riding until age 12. My passion for riding and understanding horses introduced me to all of their wonderful & individual characteristics, and from there I discovered that I wanted to share these special moments with other people - especially the owners of the horses I photograph.
I began "photographing" horses at age 14, starting with a JVC video camera and spending time making still photographs from the videos I took. My craving for a higher-powered camera escalated from a Kodak DX7590 to a Canon Rebel D-SLR. When those cameras could no longer take photos anymore, I came across the Nikon D200 and haven’t put it down since.
I come from a small close-knit barn that varies in disciplines and breeds. While I am mostly experienced with the Western side of the horse world - photographing cutting horses, cattle round-ups, and reined cowhorses - I have also spent some time photographing dressage, english, and jumping horses.
I am constantly looking for new ways to express those moments that are so special to those who are just as horse-crazy as I am. Making you happy is of the utmost importance to me - I want to bring you that "wow" factor when you see my photographs. You will find that I am easy to work with, and that I am more than happy to work with your specific vision of your horse.
